Cancun Mexico Resort Reviews

Earlier this year, Stephanie and I went on a research trip to the Riviera Maya. Our goal was to tour resorts that would appeal to our clients. Below is a short overview of the resorts we visited.

Beach Palace- Located in the heart of Cancun, a solid option for a quick visit to the area. This resort is a short distance from the airport. It is located in the heart of the Hotel Zone. Great stretch of beach and close to everything in Cancun. Rooms are spacious. Food options are limited, so would not be great for a longer vacation, unless you planned to eat off site.

Moon Palace- Just south of Cancun, this is another option close to the airport. Moon Palace is a sprawling resort, very large with a lot of activities. They are currently undergoing renovations and expansion of the Grand section, which closed last month. There is a pretty sizable seaweed problem there right now, so if you are a beach lover, you may want to choose a different location for now. They have a great “Family” category of room that is two connecting rooms and a fabulous surf simulator!

Dreams Riviera Cancun- This is a great option just south of Cancun. A smaller resort, great for families and adults. We loved their “no wristband” policy. They also have a wonderful spa!

Dreams Tulum- A larger option that is a sister property listed above. Dreams Tulum is a little over an hour south of the airport and on a great stretch of beach that is well maintained. A lot of options for families and adults. We loved the beautiful grounds and lots of room to roam.

Secrets Maroma Beach- This may be one of my favorite adults only properties in this area. Very serene, gorgeous beach, hammocks all over and a delicious frozen basil lemonade! Perfect for couples or girlfriends getaway. Absolutely a “chill” location and an amazing spa on site as well.

Gran Bahia Principe Coba- Great for families and super lively and busy! Picture below is of their “kid” pool and it was “hopping” when we were there! Good for families with smaller kids. This is a large property though, so you will definitely want your stroller!
